A tribute to Steve Irwin

Postby eeji » 13 Jun 2009, 19:16

Stephen Robert Irwin - The Crocodile Hunter
(February 22, 1962 – September 4, 2006)

At 11am (1 am GMT time) on the 4th of September 2006, Steve Irwin died after a barb from a sting ray he was filming punctured his heart. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Steve Irwin has done a great deal and helped people understand the reptile world and has been an amazing conservationist. He will be sadly missed by everyone and we hope that he will be remembered for a long time for the amazing job he has done. Our hearts go out to his Family, and to those closest to him.

Rest in peace Steve, and always remember, "In Australia, Crocs Rule!"

He's the reason I got into mywildlife managment major. I loved watching his shows and learning about the many reptiles shown on there. RIP Steve and please let Bindy and Terry be at peace about this.

I am working for a grade in a teaching zoo partially because of this man. It is entirely from him that I learned to really love and have a deep respect and understanding of reptiles. It was from him that I learned to never pick a snake up by the back of the neck because you might hurt it. He was such a nice guy, and he touched the lives and hearts of many people, whether they routinely watched Animal Planet or not. R.I.P. Steve Irwin, The only hero I ever had growing up. Wearing odd and colorful costumes with super powers is lame. A pair of kahkis, a warm heart, and wise words is a much better hero.

I cant believe its been 6 years already. Remember the sad day so well, as well as the day I saw him at his zoo which was a fantastic day (apart from him nearly running me over in his yute on the way in :o ).
RIP Steve, you are missed by so many

I consider myself very very lucky. It was a couple of days after 9/11 and he came out to do a show with one of the big crocs which he didn't do too much any more I believe due to his filming commitments etc. and he gave a great speech about how much safer he felt in front of the big croc who was predictable than some of the lunatics in this world. A day I will remember for the rest of my life.
