Postby jordan » 31 Jul 2010, 00:11

HI guys...

ive had some leos for a while now but when i got them i didnt really know much about geckos and stuff. i know a bit more now obviously but i was just wondering what people would say morph these geckos are, i have an idea of what they could be but i just want to confirm. so it would be appreciated if you could have a guess or tell me for definite what they are (if thats possible by picture). Thank you :)

Nice pics, Jordan :) You should post up one of the whole set up to show how lovely you've made it for them all ;)

thanks ian :)
thats sort of what i thought. though with Millie (the middle one) i wasnt sure if she counts as hypo, or not. im thinking she has a few too many spots for a hypo and so shes probably a high yellow. but thank you for your thoughts :)

pictures of the new male will be taken tomorrow and be put up sometime soon. :) hes lovely!

millies a bit annoying. i had photos up of her on the dark side and it was a 50/50 split between hypo and high yellow. not bad for a gecko i got in ham for £3 cause i wanted to get it some water. what i find weird is the white patch on her belly as she's never been burned

Hi Danni :) You really should come and see the girls sometime, they're loving it in their big ET. No fighting between them now! :)
Maybe the white patch is a het morph indicator, as it can be on a corn?

So both your geckos were rescues then?

well stumpy was from a gecko rescue place in luton. they had been advertising these geckos on the dark side, and i felt really sorry for her basically the fact they called her stumpy. the **** that had her and her cage mate starved them and put them in with snakes. when they got rescused they where in a really bad state and the other one didnt make it. so we took millie to luton with us to get her sexed, and watched her with stumpy. first she went up and licked her to see if she was food then she just used her like a rock. stumpy was that thin we gave her wax worms a little too often to bulk her up. she used to bite alot to. i propbably should have changed her name but it was sort of a badge of honour for all that she went through so i wouldnt forget.

millie on the other had i got from hamm. she'd been brought over from england and was at a stall in the main hall, the first year i went (the one two members of this forum pretended they didnt know me and my big poly box : :). and i felt so sorry for the geckos cause they looked so hot. so i bought millie went and bought some moss, then bought a bottle of water. every one on the bus laughed at me as every time we stopped i got out and checked her. but our bus had a 100% survival rate. even if we did miss the first ferry. (oh yeah we had to get the ferry as, as you would have it, the day we were going the tunnel caught fire)

i do miss them :) but its great seeing them do so well. if you want to see two greedy faces get them some roaches :)

NO WAY! NO ROACHES!!!! Yeurghhhhh! They're happy with their mealworms, and now they're eating those out of a dish we may be able to use sand for them again as there is no risk of impaction.

Today is going to be moving stuff out of a wardrobe, taking the doors off and putting in shelves for Jordan's growing leopard gecko collection. I'm really glad he's taken them over as he is so focused on them he's always looking for ways to make things more interesting for them - he's only just 17 but so commited to them (as well as Ella) - it means I have another reader for my Genetics for Herpers book too ;)

Thanks for their history, Danica. Maybe I shouldn't have renamed Stumpy to Scully, but I thought she was about more than her poor tail - particularly now she has settled in with Honey too and become very friendly ;) Thanks for both girls :)

Ninja outfits? Well my sewing skills are a little rusty these days... but they don't seem to need special outfits to be daredevils - Honey has apparently taken to climbing to the top rock then leaping across the viv to land on the background and continue climbing! I half expect to see her tying a bungy rope on next!!!

I think I shall have to stamp on all the post in December if there is a chance of roaches being in there! ;)

Danica just ignore JIll lol, if its roaches that the gecko likes, send em over :) i'll not tell her :P
Thanks for all that on Scully (or Stumpy if you'd prefer) i never realised it was so bad, i just thought that her tail had been pulled off and used i didnt know she was also treated badly... poor girl. Im doing all i can to make her happy though (regardless of her past) and she seems to be really settled in with Honey and Millie, and vey soon she's going to be meeting Lemon (the man of the house 8) )
but rest assured they're safely looked after and cared for here :)
