another heat cabling Q

i got some aluminium tape to cover some heat cable that runs inside a routered groove - will it help direct the heat upwards if i put tape inside the groove first?

I gave it a try and it didn't really seem to help that much. I found the most important thing was not routing the groove too deep so that the cable is just flush with the tape going over the top of it :)

Cheers

If you have enough tape I,d put some underneath the cable ,
but like Ads said make sure the cable is,nt sitting to deep in the groove .

....and to complete the thread a bit more, I did put the tape in the groove as well as over the top :D

I put a layer of masking tape over the top first though before the ali tape, this way I'll be able to re-use the heat cable elsewhere because the glue on the ali is strong stuff!

I got mine from eBay, it was a plumbers/air conditioning supplies company by the looks of it. I can't for the life of me remember the name though :?
